Welcome To Willow Bridge Books
WBB LogoWillow Bridge Books is an independent bookstore located in Oakhurst, California. Nestled between the scenic landscapes of the San Joaquin Valley and Yosemite National Park, the bookstore services the communities of Madera and Mariposa counties.

According to the owner, Monica McClanahan, "individual bookstores cannot survive unless they become deeply involved in the community." Willow Bridge Books's goal is to become a dynamic part of the community and to serve as a 'bridge' between our rural communities and the outside literary and artistic world.

Willow Bridge Books holds the charm of a village shop, with the depth and breadth of the most sophisticated New York emporium. says Chris Stanton, author of Jubilee. "But neither of these is their strongest virtue...that would be the attentive staff and local patrons that give it its' heart."

Willow Bridge Books is located in the Von's Center between Von's and CVS.  Click here for store hours and contact information.

Lura and Kerby Smith
Friday, September 3, 2010
6:30 p.m.

Lura and Kerby Smith will be talking about their new book, Digital Quilting: From Camera to Quilt.  Lura is a local quilter who has won international awards for her art quilts.   One of her quilts was named one of the “100 Best American Quilts of the 20th Century” and Lura is included in the “30 Distinguished Quilt Artists in the World”.  Lura is a remarkable talent and a celebrated artist.  Kerby has thirty years in journalism and ten years in marketing.  He has used his communications skills to write, edit and produce magazines, television documentaries, commercials and advertising campaigns. While assignments for National Geographic Magazine have taken him around the world, he is most at home in America’s West.  Lura and Kerby collaborated on this book which teaches quilters how to use modern technology and traditional media to create spectacular fabric art.  They will be talking about the challenges they faced working on the book together, and will demonstrate the techniques described in their book.

GOT POETRY?

Willow Bridge is very pleased to bring “Poets in the Pines” to our store.  This group of poets has been meeting for several years and includes poets from Yosemite NP, Eastern Madera County and beyond.  The group meets on the second Saturday of each month and the next meeting at the bookstore will be September 11 at 6PM .  All poets (young and old, writers and fans) are invited to share this poetry experience with others in the creative and welcoming atmosphere of our local bookstore.
